New Bike

She wore a helmet for actual riding.

She made it around the block on her own.

Still has training wheels, but I bet we lose them soon.

DeKalb Birthday Celebration

Grandma Liz made a cake.

Ezri blowing out her candles.

Out to a celebration dinner at Rosita’s complete with sombrero and wait staff shaking maracas and singing happy birthday. She got her traditional favorite meal at this restaurant – scrambled eggs and french fries.

Let’s celebrate how great it is to be eight. Let’s rollerskate!

Sitting and waiting to dance.

The party pushes Ezri in a giant roller skate across the rink.

A special throwback edition of Ezri Speaks

I found some older Ezri quotes I’d jotted down and then forgotten in a notebook.

Here are her thoughts from kindergarten.

“A poogol is bigger than a googol and a plundred is bigger than a hundred.”

On eating toast, “I pretend there are princesses in the middle and knights won’t let them out. I eat like this to let them out.” She nibbles the crust off her toast.

“The only number in the whole world is ONE.”

And here is a collection from last fall of her first grade thoughts.

e: The world is worth more than all the money in the world
i: What about all the money on Mars?
e: There is no money on Mars

“Amanda, will I be popular when I grow up? I think I will. Because of my voice – it is very good . . .and I am very graceful.”

Loud Thunk heard from her room, “It’s okay. That was just my sarcophagus and there isn’t much in it.”

“Don’t you think I am like Poppy Corn?” Reading from the card about this Shopkin (line of anthropomorphized retail goods), “Warm and full of surprises. A great friend to see a movie with. She’s a bag of fun.”
My response, “Yes, Ezri, you are a bag of fun. And it’s time for the bag to brush its teeth.”

“Once Ivan is outside fighting zombies, only something like dinner can stop him. Something he REALLY likes.”

“Sleeping bags are special because you can put stuff in them and it stays there.”

Brownie Scouts at the School Dance

It was Candyland themed. Ezri has a donut broach on her dress. Eric wore a lollipop in place of a pocket square.

Here’s some 2nd grade group dance photos.

Ezri passed Basic 6 skate

The badge was unavailable due to stocking issues – but I went ahead and sewed the Basic 4 and Basic 5 badges on her skate scarf to celebrate her passing with new skates skills. They’d been hanging out in a plastic baggie for months now.

She can now ice skate WAY better than her mom and WAY WAY better than her dad.

Found in Ezri’s take home folder from school

Ezri is lucky to have a friend like Alice.

Pretty sneaky, sis
