Trip to the movies

This was Ezri’s second movie outing to a theater, but my first time at the theater with her.
I’d planned to take her to see Frozen earlier but the first two times I had planned were ironically so snowy as to make travel to the theater not worthwhile.
We shared a popcorn and lemonade. My kid can eat a lot of popcorn.

She was enthralled by Frozen and particularly enamored with the ice magic. She brought Woof-Woof along to snuggle in case the movie was scary.

At one point when the main characters were being attacked by a snow beast, I gasped. I felt something on my arm. It was Woof-Woof with Ezri quietly saying, “You can hold him if you need to.”

When the big rescue scene happens, Ezri had questions which she started to ask in a piping voice in the completely silent and relatively full theater. I shushed her explaining in whispers when the action had picked up what had just happened. We talked a lot in the car on the way home about the movie and it was a lovely outing for us both.

Taking care of dad

The kids brought the entire contents of their beds out to pile on top of Eric.

They brought out the step stool so they could pile on the top layers.

I think he looks pretty great.

Sidenote: New fun lunchtime game discovery for today is “identify the half-eaten animal cracker” game. Take a bite eating no more tan half the cracker and then ask others at the table what animal it is you have.

Loss

Two siblings sharing an iPad and playing some puzzle games in the laundry basket.

Then squabbling over which game to play and who gets to hold the iPad results in loss of iPad privileges.

Ezri is so upset she does not want to be seen. Ivan is wailing, “NOOOOO! iPad! iPad!”

Ivan tried the lower lip pout and Ezri refused to come out, but the iPad was not returning.

Ezri returned to us, but she was not happy either.

The kids were then given books to read in the laundry basket and they stayed together in there lifting the flaps to find Sesame Street characters for quite awhile. Peace returned, though the iPad did not.

Indoor Playspaces are a must.

Ezri took her little brother up into the structure and they tandem slid a few times until she declared, “Ivan, you can do it all by yourself.” And he did.

Bitter Cold

Bitter cold means a need for inside fun. Here’s Eric and Ezri constructing a Lego Friends bakery.
Ezri can now follow a schematic (with some help from Eric).

Happy 2014

New Year’s Eve
Ezri got to go bowling with friends in the morning. She’s pretty good with a 6 lb ball.
In the evening there was a half sleepover party thrown by a very cool family with a girl just Ezri’s age and an older girl for her to idolize.
Ezri got her own Champagne glass with purple stripes on it filled with fancy fizzy apple juice.
Her doll got to join a toy celebration over at the toy table which had little glasses and plates for all the toys.
There were cookies and brownies.
Great party to start 2014 with some great friends.
