This is a note left on Ezri’s door that was to inform me that she and Ivan had gone camping. This involved packing and taking a bunch of stuff to my room. It is winter after all.

This sign is to tell Ivan that pushing Ezri is not allowed. It is a picture of Ivan pushing Ezri in a circle with a line through it.

This sign is posted next to Ivan’s bed. It is a picture of Ivan grabbing something out of Ezri’s hands in a circle with a line through it.

This is Eric’s ticket to join “Tiger Club.”

This note informs the viewer that ghosts are not allowed, but Slimer the pet green ghost in the Ghostbusters cartoon is allowed.

This was delivered to me in a bag by postal worker Ezri.

This note cost a lot to mail.

But it was worth it when I opened it.

Ezri was sworn in today at her very first Daisy scout meeting. She had a great time.

I discovered that, apparently, her favorite color is now yellow. Who knew? And her favorite thing to do with me is to play Mario Kart, which we’ve done exactly once, over a year ago. And her mom makes good food (foob).

February 20th, 2015 — dress-up
This outfit complete with cape is VERY pink.

February 14th, 2015 — birthday
Ezri has recently added yellow to her list of favorite colors – pink and purple and yellow. This hat from Liz hits all three. It came with a scarf in all three colors that has all of the badges Ezri has earned at her skating class embroidered on it.

We tested a new game – Fibber. It is essentially the card game I played as “I Doubt it” or “BS” when I was a kid with the addition of snazzy purple glasses and a mechanic where your nose grows when you are caught fibbing.

Ezri was gifted her dad and her aunt’s 1980s Fisher Price dolls dressed in snazzy new outfits handcrafted by Liz.
Mandy is dressed as Elsa. Mikey is dressed as Kristoff. She has been dressing and undressing the dolls all afternoon and evening. They are now in pajamas resting comfortably. She is planning a doll tea party for them. I remember having a Mandy doll as a first grader, so seeing her again being loved by my kid was nostalgia-riffic.

I made my first layer cake and Aunt Coral gave Ezri the figurines we used to make it Frozen themed. Last year was all about the My Little Ponies, but this year Elsa is Queen.

Happy Birthday – we celebrated all week, but 6 is worth it.

February 13th, 2015 — birthday
Ezri wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese for her birthday.
I did not want to go – but it was her firm desire. I didn’t have it in me to throw a party there, but we found some good friends willing to come play with us.
The Booremba girls joined us for what turned out to be a fabulously good time.
Ezri and friends loved running around and putting tokens in things that light up or you ride on or let you throw projectiles or whack buttons.
You also got to dance with a large mouse mascot.

Ivan adored playing with a foam hammer and whacking frogs.

Here are Ezri and J “as seen on TV”

Video games are mesmerizing.

Ivan loved the monster truck ride. Though he did fall getting out of it once for his only tears of the night.

We got a cake with 6 candles.

There was pizza and lemonade in hard-to-spill cups.

We all sang happy birthday to our 6 year-old Ezri!

At Kindergarten you got a crown and a sticker and to be the line leader on your birthday – Whoah! Ezri gave her class the Elephant and Piggie book Elephants Cannot Dance in honor of her birthday and she read the whole thing with her teacher Mrs. Murphy.

Hair chalk was one of her gifts. She used it to make her hair pink and purple like Raven, Twilight Sparkle and Sabine. There is a pink ring around our bathtub now. She loved how her hair matched her dress.

On Saturday, Jason and Lori took Ezri to MagiQuest where in just three hours she advanced from Junior Magi with her pink wand to Master Magi. Lori made her the balloon crown and a balloon snowman friend who came with a cup of junior mints which Ezri said were all for her but that she is happier sharing so Ivan and I can have some.

On Sunday, Meghan met the Blaus for sledding. It was fun. Ivan and Ezri made it from the top of the hill all the way down to the weeds. And everyone went over the bump.

February 1st, 2015 — snow
We put the kids to work cleaning off the car.

“Ezri and Ivan’s snowball delivery!” Then you get hit with a snowball and there is much laughing from the delivery persons.

We built a snowman. Ivan wanted blueberries for eyes. I had none and if I did the kids would eat them before they became eyes. Cheerios were used for eyes. The hat was hand dyed a decade ago in a color I call “cookie monster” blue.

I thought about having the kids name the snowman, but Ivan told me he was a boy and Ezri said she was a girl. We’ve been calling it the snow person and I do not want to try for a naming consensus.

We also began “Operation Igloo” in the backyard, but so far it’s more of a partial wall than an igloo. Luckily there’s plenty of snow and it should be around for awhile. Operation Igloo can continue.
