Morning with Ezri

I thought I might do a morning in the life of Ezri, aged 3.

This morning Ezri had cereal and yogurt for breakfast.
She decided to stay in her pajamas while we played with play dough.

We did stories with Ivan and read his most recent Babybug magazine, Someday by Allison McGhee, A Huge Hog is a Big Pig, Whose Shoe by Margaret Miller, and Shortcut by David Macaulay.

We played with Ezri’s magnets identifying letters and numbers. Ezri said, “The I is for both Ezri and Ivan. We share.” She had astutely noticed “I” is the only letter their first names have in common.
Ezri practiced tracing letters on the nook color.

I decided it was time for daytime clothes and Ezri got dressed all by herself picking a polka dot shirt and flowered pants. Okay, she did need a little parental help with her socks.

We watched a few short videos of Biz Markies’ beat of the day and practiced our beatboxing.

Ezri peed in her potty at her own request (this is huge!) and got a sticker of Funshine Bear.

Ezri did some yoga poses without her shirt on just like our friend, Mark.

We decided to go out to Subway for lunch. I told Ezri she’d need her shirt on for lunch.
Ezri ordered her own turkey sandwich “with cheese, please.”

We walked a block to Fishel Park where there was a new mound of bark mulch that had not yet been spread. It was our mountain and we ran over it many times.
Ezri played rocket and had a slight meltdown due to the fact that she is now too big to be lifted into the baby swings at this park which has high baby swings. In true debate form she told me that “Meghan who is grown-up has swinged on the baby swings.” Yes, but Meghan was being silly and could get into the swing by herself I countered.

We headed home to feed Ivan some baby moosh in his highchair. Ezri used the nook to read a Little Critter book while I fed Ivan.

Ezri used the potty before nap and was read Mr. Grumpy during her potty time.
Then we got ready for naptime with even more stories – Fancy Nancy and the Boy from Paris and Fancy Nancy at the Museum.

Then Ezri went to sleep and I got to do some time for serious peek-a-boo with the little brother.

It’s not a post without photos, so here are Ezri and Eric playing superheros in the backyard last night.

This is as close as “Super Ezri” came to flying.

Here Super Eric is after Super Ezri. Run, Super Ezri, run!

Sunny Day Fun

We played a game where Ezri looked for trees she was big enough to hug. There was a large tree that took all three of us (Ezri, Liz, and I) to make a ring-around-the-tree with our arms. No photographer was available to photograph that tree hug. Here Ezri has found one just her size for hugging.

The glade was full of daffodils.
Ezri played “leap daffodil” and was much more respectful of not knocking over flowers than last year. She walked around and through them.

We took a walk through the woods to Lake Marmo and saw a hawk along the way. This is Liz and Ezri looking at the hawk.

Though she was tired after the walk and asked about being carried, Ezri was reinvigorated by the promise of a bunny snack (gummy fruity treat) and walked all the way back up the trail from the lake on her own. She enjoyed digging in bark mulch and finding sticks. Ivan enjoyed napping and trying to eat the grass.

Here we are after snack under a tree.

Cinderella

So, this doll was made by mother for me twice. The first doll wore blue and played with me in childhood, but eventually was stored in a box in the garage that met a raccoon and was nested in by said raccoon – an untimely end. Ezri was fascinated by this story of doll destruction. She is currently napping with this new Cinderella and was heard telling her, “I won’t let the raccoons get you.” We are keeping new Cinderella safe. She is actually a very clever flip-doll, so the evil stepmother and stepsisters are under her skirt and can be seen when the doll is flipped over. Thanks, Tam!

Spring is here – early and extra warm

We’ve been finding flowers.

Ezri’s been pretending to be a purple kangaroo at the park.

Eric’s brush removal = Ezri’s play tent.

First Arboretum Trip of Spring

I’ve been taking photos of Ezri inside this acorn tunnel, but that didn’t happen this trip. This trip she was a climber.

She even climbed the big acorn.

And she had company. These two girls took off their shoes so that they could be “the king of the world without shoes.”

Ezri Speaks

Rocking in her PJs

Another collection of quotable Ezri follows.

After too many “why” questions, I told Ezri we were happy to answer her questions.
But, no more questions that started with “why.” Ask some questions that start with “what” or “how,” please.
Her next question.
“Why no why questions?”

We have a friend who makes a “wah-wah” noise when, for example, a hole is missed in mini-golf. Ezri has started using “wah-wah” at exactly the right moments. I drop my cookie on the floor and hear a small “wah-wah.”

This is an Eric quote heard during the bedtime routine and spoken to Ezri, “No, we already did the cow. You missed it because you were too busy doing one eye.” Funny part is I know exactly what he is talking about.

“A panda will eat my magic wand.” Ezri was using a piece of bamboo for her magic wand.

“C3PO can have daddy’s chair while he’s gone.” Yes, Eric, you’ve been replaced by a beanie baby droid replica.

Practicing her beat boxing

Lapful

I feel like with plenty of time to play with photoshop I could turn these two photos into one decent snapshot.

Daddy Mountain

This is the result of a game we call “climbing the Daddy Mountain.” Ezri scales Eric. Then he gives her a boost so she can make her final ascent and touch the ceiling.

Here’s the descent.
