A week ago we had friends over to our house to celebrate the return of good friends from a year in New Zealand.
Ezri loved being a hostess – or she loved showing her house to friends.
Whenever a train went by on the tracks, a viewing party assembled.

Everyone loved exploring the dress up clothes.

Her bed became a rocketship.

A: What did you like about our playdate?
e: I liked that my best friends were there.

The snowman that Ivan and I built a couple weeks ago.

The hat & scarf Ezri found ready for wear in the yard today.

Another collection of Ezri’s sayings.
“Ivan stay on the futon or in your room or I might crush you with my cartwheeling.”
Ezri’s tumbles in no way resemble cartwheels.
E: Your Valentine’s party is tomorrow.
e: No, it’s not. It is the DAY AFTER tomorrow.
E: Pretty sure it’s tomorrow.
e: No, at school they said DAY AFTER tomorrow.
E: They told you that yesterday?
e: Yes!
e: I am Princess Ezri. This is Princess Twilight.
i: I am Princess Ivan.
e: No, you are a prince.
i(with a glint of resolve): PRINCESS Ivan. PRINCESS Spike.
“Are those trees deciduous?” Ezri sees snow falling on trees in an app on the iPad and tries to understand the incongruity of the trees still having leaves while the snow falls.
“IKEA IKEA you got that knife at IKEA!” She read the IKEA herself and is very proud. She finds IKEA all over the house on towels, toys, and kitchen utensils.
e: (while flailing about on the floor) Aren’t I the best dancer ever with the best dance moves?
E: (with an upbeat tone) You are the most enthusiastic dancer our house has ever seen.
“The boys want to get all handsomed up. They need to be SO fancy.” Said while dressing up her male My Little Pony toys.
As I head out of the house for a walk Ezri tells me, “When you hear howling it’s just the wolves.” Eric responds, “There are no wolves.” With indignation Ezri replies, “No, wolves are real.”
From her cozy made of blankets on the floor, “I’m the QUEEN of cozies.”
“I’m going to show Mrs. Paul my subtraction.” Ezri has started learning some math concepts beyond counting and grouping.
“Ivan, if I give you back your laser piece, will you STOP lasering me?” If you teach your brother to make a “laser” gun out of tinkertoys be prepared for him to chase you around the house chanting “LASER-LASER-LASER-LASER”
“I am the queen of fashion. Ivan, you are the king of fashion.” As she points to Eric and I, “You are the royal servants of fashion.”

We were going to make rainbow cupcakes for Ezri’s 5th birthday, but it didn’t come together.
So, it was a project for this weekend.
Ezri can now do a lot more of the work of the project. She still likes licking the spoon the best though.
Ezri spooning colored batter into cups for baking.

Posing with the cupcakes warm from the oven.

Adding rainbow sprinkles to decorate.

Voila! Finished products.

Eating is the best. Taste the rainbow.

This shows the multicolored insides.
