Here we are at Grove Fest on something called the Tornado.
It’s like a teacup ride that goes up in the air and you make the car spin by pulling on a central wheel and my kids spun that thing more than any other riders on the Tornado.
We also did the Ferris Wheel. Meghan kept them both from falling out. It was a lovely night of festing. We discovered you can get a funnel cake sundae – that’s a funnel cake with softserve ice cream, powdered sugar, and chocolate sauce on top. Ivan assured me, “I think the chocolate sauce makes it better!”
Taller than they were last year.
Dancing by the fountain where she got her helium balloon wet so it hung low. She could walk it like a puppy.
Ezri rode the carousel with Meghan just like last year and 6 years ago when it was her first time on a carousel. They went down the Fun Slide, played the Fishing game and Ivan tested his strength with a large hammer trying to ring a bell. The kids broke boards with the local karate school and filled water guns in the train station fountain. On the walk back to the car there were fireflies winking and the streetlamps made the kids shadows blue and pink which fascinated them.

It was so hot we seriously considered sticking our heads in the fountain.
Puppy dog eyes will get you tastes of the funnel cake Meghan was taking home to her mom.
Happy girls in the line waiting to ride a spinny horrifying ride called Zero Gravity. Ivan rode it too. I stayed on the sidelines and watched our backpack.
Ezri and her friend J are up there somewhere on this ride called the rockstar which played some Def Leppard just to calm me down.
Making a “Friendship Statue” with J by the train station.
Riding the carousel with Meghan (who took her on her first carousel ride 5 years ago).

On many of these rides Ezri and her friend, Julia, were the only riders. I hope the carnies made their money in other hours of the carnival.
Ezri picks the pink dragon and the pink car. Oh, the powerful allure of pink!

About firetruck wheel height.
Ezri enjoyed Classic Car Night and seeing this firetuck.
She has decided that to be a race car a car must be a convertible. We spotted a number of “race cars” at Car Night. Also, some real hot rods that were not “race cars” by Ezri’s definition.
She suggested to me that we make our black car (pontiac vibe) into a race car.
me: How would we do that?
ez: Cut the top off.
me: Would that make it faster?
ez: Yes, zoooom!
me: What would we do if it rained?
ez: Take the blue car.
