I didn’t even notice taking this photo that my fly was down.

What is Ezri Reading?
November 30th, 2009 — books
I know it isn’t Wednesday, but with the holiday we missed last week.
Grandpa Mark even noticed there was no book post last week.
So, I am posting early to say that Ezri is all about the fuzzy pages of books this past week.
Favorites of the past week have included:
Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings by Matthew Van Fleet most especially the fuzzy yellow circle page and the woolly white rectangle pages.
and
Two books from DK Baby Touch and Feel series – one entitled Animals and the other entitled Puppies and Kittens.
Yes, Ezri is looking for furry books these days as her primary reading appeal. Is it the plot? The character development? The illustrations? No, it’s the fuzz factor.
She loves turning pages and is decreasingly likely to try to teeth on the book. It warms my librarian heart to see her crawling enthusiastically over to the bookshelves to look for a fun book.
Ezri is petting the page with the fuzzy bunny.
Much to be Thankful for. . .

I am thankful for family.
Ezri is especially thankful for her Aunt Amy. Aunt Amy thinks Ezri is pretty cool and Ezri loves to have an aunt who adores her so. She lit up to play peekaboo with Amy. She clearly also appreciates Tim as the photo shows.
Ezri also appreciated getting to play with the broken turkey baster.
She also made new friends and got to play with spoons. Stuffing and sweet potatos were her favorite parts of the feast, though mashed potatos and pureed turkey weren’t bad either. Grandma Liz and Grandpa Harvey hosted a fabulous first Thanksgiving for Ezri and all the assembled.
A Tale of Two Boxes
November 23rd, 2009 — Uncategorized
Eric bought a couple of boxes that we put on a low shelf thinking maybe they’d be less appealing for Ezri to grab.
Ezri now knows what to do with boxes. She pulled the first one off the shelf and opened it. I thought no harm in playing with empty boxes. Glad we didn’t store anything in them yet.
Once the first one had been opened to Ezri’s delight she found a second box on the shelf.
Then there were two open boxes. Ta da!
But, wait, this box does have something in it.
Ezri found the extra box fasteners in a plastic bag. I had to say, “Ezri, give me the choking hazard.” “Please, Ezri, give me the choking hazard.”
She gave them up and wailed. I had to put down the camera for that part, so it is undocumented.

The doctor report
November 19th, 2009 — Uncategorized
Ezri went for a wellness check today to see her doctor.
She weighs slightly over 20 lbs and is 30 inches long (or tall depending on how you reckon it).
This puts her in the 85th percentile for weight and 97th for height.
Her head circumference is 45 3/4 cm and her hemoglobin is 12.8 (which is perfectly normal according to health care professionals).
Our girl is SO BIG and healthy.
She even smiled after getting her shots. She now has matching red band-aids on each thigh.

She was really happy up there until Eric tried to stop her from pulling his hair.
What is Ezri reading?

Remember the Peekaboo books I talked about last week.
Well, Ezri has a favorite page in one of them and she won’t let you turn to other pages sometimes. It is all about the peekaboo page with the fuzzy orange kitty on it. She just wants to open and close the flap on the kitty page over & over in the book Baby Loves Peekaboo! from DK publishing.
This week she also has been picking up board books from her stash and flipping through them by herself. She doesn’t go in page order or anything, but she knows about opening the book and looking at the pages. More often than not she even has the books right side up. I can only assume this is because my baby is a genius.
Baby’s first trip to the zoo.
November 15th, 2009 — Uncategorized
We used the library’s circulating zoo pass to take Ezri to the zoo for free (or just the parking fee anyway).
Ezri expressed interest in petting the snow leopard which was inconveniently behind glass. We tried to explain that this kitty wasn’t like her domestic house cat friends.
Ezri met a pony at the Children’s Zoo.
While she remains as interested in other children as the animals, we had a great family day at the zoo.
Rubber Ducky, you’re the one.

Bathtime is lots of fun these days.
For 4 months Ezri has liked bathtime, but now she has discovered bath toys and splashing. Bathtime rules.
