Ezri calls this the “tractor trailer” even though she’s been told it is a bike trailer.
Eric dusted off his bike to take her on a ride.

Ezri has a new tricycle prompting us to sing, “I like to ride my tricycle! I like to ride my trike,” and “I don’t want a pickle just wanna ride on my tricycle. . .”
She continues to work on steering and pedaling. Sometimes she even manages both feats simultaneously. If not, this trike comes with an adult steer and push option.

Ezri says, “This is my drawing of Ezri.”

This new toy tells the user to match the colors. Ezri does like matching colors, but she decided her house needed eyes and a green smile and didn’t mind bending the rules to make it so.
The pegs in this toy are perfect for Ezri to do all by herself which makes her very happy. It’s made by ALEX toys in their Little Hands line and is well designed for 2 year-olds. Lots of fun.

Upside down good times:

The swinging was so fun that I can’t pick just one photo.
Here are three:
All smiles. . .

Catch me if you can. . .

Hand-holding fun. . .

So proud of her modern sculpture!

August 27th, 2011 — acorn, at play
She zips through the acorn tunnel pretty quickly now, but we caught a couple snaps.

This little house was a pretend take-out window. Ezri brought me cookies, juice and muffins. When I tried ordering a pepperoni and cheese pizza, I was informed she only had macaroni & cheese pizza. I decided to give it a try. I think she may have a culinary idea that could sell.

The Rocketeers determined you must hold hands during blast-off and twist knobs.
They did a count-up to ten to blast off.
Where were they going in the rocket?
The answer was London.

August 16th, 2011 — at play
This afternoon we did a craft project with toilet paper rolls.
Ezri really enjoyed using markers to decorate an owl and a pussy cat.

They needed to go to a little girl’s party according to Ezri and they needed to be dressed up in dancing clothes.
I tried my best to fashion dancing skirts.

She declared, “Now, we are all dressed up and ready to go!” Then it turned out to be a macaroni and cheese, dancing, and jumping game party. We fed them imaginary macaroni with spoons and played the jumping game. Pussy cat rode on owl while he flew in circles. Ezri says, “Owls fly. Kitties ride.” We did the kitty dance in which Ezri and I sing the meowing song from those old Meow Mix commercials and both our toilet tubes rock out. Kitty and owl had deep conversations in hoots and meows.
It was a good party and made me realize we don’t need so many fancy toys when we have discarded cardboard tubes and markers.
August 11th, 2011 — at play, books
My super-lovely co-workers threw me a fabulous SURPRISE baby shower.
I came home with so many lovely gifts for Baby Boy Blau – my favorite is a handknit blanket which is cozy as can be.
I brought in a “big sister” present that one person sent for Ezri.
Ezri spied it immediately and began to bounce.
“What’s that present, mama?”
“Is it for me?”
“OPEN IT! OPEN IT!”
She held out her hands and said, “hinga-hinga” this is the noise-of-wanting-something that she has made since she was just learning to talk and it appears these days only when there is a certain high level of excitement.
She spied the contents and said, “It’s a dolly. It’s a dolly!!”

This captures the joy of the present, though it’s hard to see the dolly who is the title character from the book Pinkalicious. Ezri noted immediately that the doll was a big sister since she had big sister ponytails.
Pinkalicious obviously needed a baby brother. Luckily, we had one.

Pinkalicious gave her baby bro a bottle and snuggled him.
Ezri read Pink and baby bro some stories.

Pinkalicious has a magic wand and she knows how to use it. She turned mama into a dinosaur and Ezri into a butterfly. This required that Ezri flutter about the house and I follow her around roaring. Luckily, Pinkalicious was kind enough to point her wand and turn us back into our ordinary selves.

Ezri then found Pink more family. Mom (Raggedy Ann), Dad (Andy), Grandpa (Darwin), and Baby Brother. She also has Madison her best friend (not pictured). So, no worries that this new doll will be lonely here at our house. Here is her family portrait.

Ezri and Pinkalicious seem to be doing everything together this afternoon.

And now they are napping together. I’d take a photo, but I don’t want to risk disturbing naptime.
