Josie’s 9th Birthday Party at Selfie Party Fun

Josie had her birthday party at a place that just had you take pictures of yourself and sing karaoke.
Kids were invited to come in costume.
It worked for the assembled as a goofy good time.

Here’s some photos.

BFFs dressed as Nerdy Guinea Pig Owner, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, and A Black Cat

Ezri took this one for Ivan. He loves Pokemon.

Doreen Green on Halloween

Ezri dressed up as The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl AKA Doreen Green.
She enjoys computer science, talking to squirrels, saving babies, having an awesome tail, solving things through conversation and when that is NOT possible kicking butts.
Her tagline is Kicking Butts and Eating Nuts – which are two of her favorite things to do.
Ivan agreed to be her main squirrel friend Tippy the Wonder Squirrel after writing his animal report on squirrels last year in Kindergarten.
Together they are working on developing their own squirrel language chittersqueak.
They think these costumes Eric made are totally ChichichiCHI” which I think means “awesome” in chittersqueak.

Kids did not want to pause in trick-or-treating for a group photo – it shows

Ezri went out a couple blocks without a grown-up with this Arctic Fox and Wolf. The girls had a walkie talkie and checked in with base regularly for the minutes they were gone. Still, it felt like a milestone to have her out with friends and no parent.

Statues in Naperville

Builders at the DuPage Children’s Museum

Saws, drills, hammers, clamps – hand tools and wood blocks

The kids made some fabulous creations and had the power of making holes and cutting wood themselves.
Ezri is getting good with a hand saw.
Ivan still needs help to get his nails pounded flat but both like to build.

Old Friends together again

“If we tell them we’re conjoined twins, they won’t be able to separate us.” – Charlotte. We love her so much.

Brownie Scouts at Camp Tecumseh

Ezri and I spent two nights in a cabin at camp Tecumseh with 13 Brownie Scouts.

We rode horses, slid down slides, canoed, climbed walls, did obstacle courses, played in the GaGa ball pit, hiked, made slime, did archery, crafted candles, played board games and are now exhausted!

Despite a brief migraine for me, several camper meltdowns, rain, one scout’s car sickness, holiday weekend traffic and a general lack of sleep – I’m calling it a success!

Here are some photos of the weekend courtesy of Ezri’s Brownie leader.

Fall Leaves

These are from weekend before last. That was before Ivan’s new haircut. Ezri helped rake. Ivan was more of a leap jumper than raker.

Family

This one is from a few months back. But today it made me smile. So, I’m sharing it.
