Scenes from a Snow Day

School is out!

Sleds, boots, baking, fun!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

After a hiatus from the wizarding world, Harry Potter book #3 begins.

During the break, bedtime stories included a lot of the Dragonbreath series by Vernon and Wedgie & Gizmo by Selfors.

Snuggle-palooza

In case you wondered what a prepared snuggle-palooza looks like.

Ezri made this sign. “Welcome to the Super Snuggle Palooza Extreme!!!”

She and Ivan loaded my bed with pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals.

Sleepover

Ezri tried a sleepover once before but only made it to 11:30 and then came home.
We’ll see if this one takes for the whole night.
So far, so fun but it’s only 8:30.

She made it the whole night! Underslept but very happy with her first sleepover. Veena’s mom is THE BEST and makes the best scrambled eggs – just ask Ezri.

Snuggle-palooza

Snuggle-palooza is a party where you get a lot of stuffed animals, some family members, and snuggle up with them.

Sledding

Lying down on the job! It makes you go faster and it’s comfy.

Ezri found her friend Ellie on the slopes. They rolled down the hill barrel style holding hands. The snow in the face was “worth it.”

Cold, but FUN! We earned our cocoa climbing back up the sledding hill.

Kinetic Brownie Scouts

Out with old

Hammer turns this festive gingerbread village into food for the squirrels.
Smashing good time.

The kids placed gingerbread pieces under the trees around the yard in hopes that squirrels would find them.

Illumination – brrrrrr!

Upon learning that it would be right around 4 degrees for our annual trip to the arboretum for their outdoors light show, Eric spent the morning using a pattern from the Internet, scrap fleece, and our serger to craft bella klava style hoods for us to wear. Here is Ezri modeling hers in the warmth of our home.

Ezri testing her outfit’s warmth in our driveway before heading out. She’s brandishing an icicle.

Very few photos were taken outside, thick gloves and cameras don’t play nicely together. But here are the kids hugging the tree that changes lighted colors when you squeeze it. Ivan enjoyed hunting for the “Glowman” a lighted snowman along the path that earned him a glow stick when he told the folks inside where we’d seen it.

Here we are back inside at the visitors’ center. We ate some chocolate and played some Yeti in Spaghetti.

That’s Meghan the friend who accompanied us. I assume you can now pick her out of any line-up.
