The exhausted Ezri would not get into bed today for her nap.
So, I left her room while she shouted that she did not want to go bed.
In a few minutes her room grew quiet.
I peeked in. She had pulled her blanket over to the rocker to nap.
She meant it about not getting into bed.
Though, she didn’t really wake up when I carried her over and tucked her in.
She said she would not go to bed. . .

Porch Happy Hour
May 15th, 2011 — Uncategorized
Now that it is springtime, Ezri and I often have some after nap drinks together on the porch while we wait for Eric to get home from work.
Usually this is watered down apple juice, sometimes with a snack.
Ezri loves setting up our glasses for happy hour and sitting at the porch table.
I got her a cup that is very similar to my cup. Though she is lucky enough that hers has a monkey face on it.
She’s also a big fan of clinking glasses together and saying cheers.
I really like this new ritual of having drinks together on the porch too.
Me: Ezri it is happy hour.
Ezri: Happy hour! Happy hour! On the porch! Let’s do it!
And in motion:
Ring-Around-The-Rosie

These two move too fast for good photos, but you get the idea.
Ashes, ashes, we all fall DOWN

I continue to be amazed at the patience of Ezri’s friends who have a year or two on her (though they don’t have too many inches on her necessarily). They have taught her hide-and-seek, climbing, helped her practice tricycle pedaling, and showed her how to ring-around-the-rosie. There’s something about watching Ezri learn from the big girls that I find smile worthy.

Ezri amused herself as Amanda shopped for some new shirts.
Backyard Bubbles

What’s better than bubbles?
Bubbles with a friend.
We did a pretty happening bubble stomp dance on the grass.
Dandelion Hunters

Two Girls,
Two Buckets,
One Mission:
PICK DANDELIONS!
I figure the fewer that go to seed, the less propagation, right?
The intrepid hunters did not let our brush pile stop them.
Twenty minutes and lots of running around later that bucket was mostly full of yellow dandelions.
The hunters accepted payment for their services in the form of fruit cups.
Now I know why the easel is double sided.

Getting dressed
May 9th, 2011 — Uncategorized
Amanda: It’s time to put on shoes.
Ezri: No wear shoes. I’m a penguin.
Amanda: That’s silly you are not a penguin.
Ezri: Yes. I is a penguin. Waddle Waddle Waddle Waddle Waddle
And now we’re wearing shoes, but it took awhile.
Ezri parties at a friend’s 4th birthday!
May 8th, 2011 — Uncategorized
Ezri plants a flower to give to the birthday girl who loves the color orange.
This is her first use of her kid-sized garden tools.

At the party there were bubbles, cake, balls, slides, swings, and plenty of other kids to chase and run around with. We had a blast.
Sand is awesome. It’s like dirt, but the adults don’t mind if the kids dig in it.
