Cake decorating birthday party!

Maura’s birthday party was held at The Cakery where the girls decorated cakes and learned some piping techniques.
Ezri with her appreciation of competition baking programs (Nailed it! and Zumbo’s Dessert Challenge in particular) loved this.

Finished product – eaten by appreciative family.

Movie Idea from the kids

Ezri and Ivan tell me they have made up a movie and are telling me the story.

We are looking out the window of a Burger King play place at a strip mall across the parking lot.
It is the set for their movie called “Building Wars.” As it opens, the PetSmart and the Bed, Bath, and Beyond stores are battling.
Beds are flying through the air and pet kibble is being strewn across the parking lot as a trip hazard. Oh MAN!
And then the LaserQuest laser tag place gets in on the action but it just looks cool and doesn’t do much because the lasers there aren’t real.
They haven’t come up with the rest of it yet. But are sad there isn’t Toys R Us anymore because that could’ve been a contender in Building Wars as they have bicycles and LEGOs.

Blooming

Last year we planted sunflowers and they got about chest high.
They seeded themselves and this year’s volunteers are up to the garage roof.
Children for scale.

Marching with the Girl Scouts on the 4th of July

It looks like a laser gun, but it is actually a bubble blower that she used during the parade to blow bubbles.

Passing candy to kids along the parade route – she saved some favorites for Ivan.

Showing off her troop t-shirt. Thanks to Aunt Amy for the pins on her vest. The GS membership pin and Trefoil pin were taken from Amy’s old uniform and added to Ezri’s vest to march in the parade.

Bridging Ceremony on Horseback

This ceremony marks the end of Brownies and rising to become Junior Girl Scouts.
Since Ezri’s troop leader after 4 years leading a troop is not planning to lead next year, Ezri’s scouting future is uncertain.

She has earned 25 of the 35 possible badges and has many happy memories with this bunch of Brownie Scouts.

Eric sewed a quilt for Kate (with me in charge of getting the girls’ squares ready) to thank her for her scouting leadership.

Each girl spoke about what scouts meant to her.

They are a good group who have become good friends.
