I can tell she’s smiling.

Ezri turns TWELVE

The t-shirt from Grandma Liz pretty much sums up how she got to twelve.

Just what she wanted a big stack of Marissa Meyer’s books.

Owl Socks from Grandma Tam.

Birthday Ezri is a magical creature.
Pelted with a snowball and waiting to catch marshmallows in her bowl.

A new tradition begins – we are calling it THE PELTING. Ezri rolled a twelve sided die in honor of her birthday – she got a 4 this meant 4 snowballs were hurled at her and the remaining 8 of her years were represented by being pelted with marshmallows. I am older and we’ve decided for my birthday it will be water balloons.

If you wondered if white marshmallows can be found when tossed into a white snowbank. They can if you find the right determination. Blau kids have that determination.

Halloween Pandemic Style

Youth Dungeons and Dragons wore costumes for their session – Ezri is Firebird and her brother is there as Mario. The others you’ll have to guess at though there are two Plague Doctors in the bunch.

We decorated gourds. Ezri did the big unicorn and the baby unicorn. Teamwork on Baby Yoda in his hover pod pumpkin.
Eric built a socially distanced treat dispensing device. Ezri and Ivan made a sign to let neighborhood kids know about it.
Halloween Mask – 2020
Psyche Greek Goddess of the Soul – sometimes portrayed with butterfly wings because of her transformation from mortal woman to Goddess
Karate class – to get into ready stance Psyche flutters her wings
Candy trades with her brother due to her new braces preventing enjoying some treats

Painting the boards

After downtown Downers Grove put up boards due to windows being broken, an art teacher started a mural and invited kids and their families to come paint the boards of businesses with permission.

The brown and peach dots in the heart represent faces. There is also a small brown dot = peach dot. The orange key is a key and Ezri firmly believes O’s should be hearts.

When we came back the next day more was added by other artists!

This was my painting.

Later it had so many more hearts. I loved that the new artists took care to leave our work showing.

Here are some other boards near ours – I loved the mix of kids’ art with adult artists.

The boards are down now and I’m glad they aren’t needed but I miss the messages and art brightening our downtown.

New pen pals

Writing and receiving mail from new cat friend Bacchus and Norbert the parrot. Finding fun in the mailbox!

Bacchus has received his mail!

Bacchus sent the “rainbow-breathing” kitten postcard which found a place of honor on the sustenance preserver and looks perfect breathing color onto the Llamacorn card.
