Ezri Speaks

On mother’s day we all sang to me and had cookies. We talked about father’s day next month and what we might do. Then Ezri asked, “When is Kids’ Day?” Asking Ezri what a Kids’ Day would have she thought there would be macaroni and cheese for dinner, special Kids’ Day cookies, and a trip to Westmont Yard where there are bouncy houses. I think we can make Kids’ Day happen.

“Do you remember the olden days before the iPad?” We’ve been talking a lot about inventions like the car, indoor plumbing, and electric lights. We’ve talked about how people didn’t used have those inventions which prompted Ezri to ask about the much loved iPad. Yes, Ezri, I remember 2009 just fine. It was the year you were born.

“What do people eat if they don’t eat food?” I had trouble figuring out how to answer that one.

After unwrapping a Hershey’s kiss and holding the small tissue flag Ezri asked, “Do I need to keep the receipt anymore?”

“I am scooting on my scooter. When I go too fast, I usually slow down.”

“Prepare to get PINK!” Running at me with her hands covered in pink sidewalk chalk dust.

“I am Water Girl and you are Dirt Woman.” Ezri was giving us superheroine names related to our tasks during the planting of containers. Just don’t the rest of you try to call me Dirt Woman.

While giving her baby dragon puppet a bottle (see photo above):
A: Look, it is Khal-Ezri, mother of dragons.
Ez: No, Big Sister of dragons actually.

Tell Ezri that Grandpa Mark’s parents got electricity just a few years before he was born. He remembers their first telephone; it had a crank. Their “phone number” was a long and a short. That’s one full turn of the crank followed by a half turn.

Khal Ezri! I love it — I am prepared to get pink any time. So what about Grandma Day?

National Grandparents’ Day is the first Sunday after Labor Day. Should we come visit you for it? Ezri wants to see this phone with a crank. We will have to visit a museum sometime with historical items.
