Mother Daughter High Tea at the Arboretum

Despite flooding that meant most of the Arboretum was closed to the public, we got to sneak in the back entrance for the Mother Daughter Tea Time special event today.

We had tea made entirely of flowers and we got to strain it with fancy tea strainers. A flute and keyboard duo of musicians played fancy music like a medley from The Sound of Music right next to us. There were scones & cream and petit fours and miniature sandwiches on pretty trays. Ezri liked dissolving her sugar in her tea and enthusiastically squeezing lemons. She liked her bright pink cloth napkin though we kept losing it to the floor. That was just an excuse to crawl under the table which she also liked.

During craft time, Ezri made a tea cup planter for her dad decorated by drawing his face and writing his name on it by herself. Then she asked me to add Princess Leia and R2D2 and write Star Wars because Eric likes Star Wars. I started “Star Wars” in a color that was not pink, but Ezri insisted I switch to the pink marker. Eric declared the gift to be “the nicest cup of dirt he’s ever received.”

Here we are photographed by one of our tablemates. The chair behind me is where the flautist played.

After tea we explored the gardens, skipped alot, and climbed on bike racks.

It was a nice event with being fancy but still perfect for a young girl. Watching Ezri sit up super straight and sip her tea daintily was smile inducing.

Cool, a tea party for real. Looks like a great time was had by Ezri and her mom.
