The Cupcake Fairy Strikes

I am glad Eric did not inform us (and particularly Ezri) of the arrival of cupcakes in the house until after dinner.
Once she knew they were in the house, all she wanted to sing happy birthday and eat a cupcake. It is not particularly a birthday. These are just happy bonus cupcakes.
Why wait for anyone to help remove the cupcake paper?
Both Ezri I had special sprinkles on our cupcakes. Thanks, Charlotte.
When it comes to cupcakes forget women and children, it is frosting and sprinkles first! Ezri ate her cupcake frosting first and then looked at the remaining cake and considered. Eric promised the cake was good too. So, she ate that too.
When washing her hands afterwards she found a stray green sprinkle and said, “sprinkle!” nabbing it for her mouth before it hit the soap.
We also discovered that getting frosting on your nose is possibly genetic. She totally gets that from me.
Ezri liked this cupcake so much she licked the cupcake liner and then said, “Ezri try Mama’s,” pointing at my cupcake liner. I gave it to her and earned a smile and a, “Thanks, Mama.” Good to the last lick. Thanks, Cupcake Fairy.
Taking a sock monkey to the park on a spring day

So, monkey-monkey, do you come here often?
Ezri and monkey-monkey took time to smell the flowers.
Ezri pushes monkey-monkey on the swings.
Ezri decides she wants to swing too. I get to give them both “big pushes.”
Ezri helped monkey-monkey on the slide.
Previous park-goers left behind a chalkboard scene. Ezri enjoyed pretending to be part of the scene. Here monkey-monkey is knocking on one of the chalk house’s door.
Then Ezri found the chalk picture swingset and she and monkey-monkey did some pretend swinging in chalk land.
Hoo-ray for spring. This is just the start of many afternoons at the park.

What Ezri says

It is no longer possible to record everything Ezri says in a morning. So, this morning I just selected some phrases. For comparison, here’s my recording of everything she said in two hours in late December. She’s getting even chattier with more full sentences and proper pronoun use. She’s also remembering a lot of things that have happened previously and commenting on them. As, opposed to just speaking about her immediate environment. She tells more mini-narratives now too.
Late December 2011
I need crocodile. Lyle, Lyle.
Look what found – broccoli. He can stand up. (Playing with Baron Von Broccoli doll)
Dad Downstairs.
Mama, Ezri Up. (Pick me up)
Ezri booping. (method of going down stairs on one’s bottom)
Not Dada. Mama boop.
Lyle, Lyle this bin.
We Downstairs. We open this. Ezri have it. (finding and obtaining Lyle toy)
It’s a Rocking Chair. I see it. Ezri see this.
Ezri go back in this. (climbing in Rocking chair)
One, two, three – What’s Ezri doing? (she’s rocking in the chair and counting)
Maybe it’s cards. (?)
What’s in this? Dada drink it all up. Dada drink. Dada pour. (Ezri found an empty cup)
Daddy sing this song. Crocodile sing this song.

No jumping on the bed.

Crumbs. Crumbs. Nibble cats. (yes, there are crumbs on the floor. Ezri thinks cats may be interested)

Mommy and Daddy away down the road.
Ezri fed cats now. Ezri fed the cats. (Ezri helps feed the cats)
No boots anymore. Ezri help. Feet boots. (Putting on her boots)

Mama wipe that. Dirty. (yogurt on the counter and a request for cleaning)

In the Doghouse

Ezri loves this little house in the toddler garden at Morton Arboretum.
While I was counting her jumps on her trampoline, “1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10!” Ezri turned to me and said, ‘What about zero?”
I had her stop bouncing and we started with 0 bounces and then counted.
Spring Swing

Today was the first perfect Saturday of spring.
We spent the morning in Lyman woods at the “Raindrops and Rabbits” program for toddlers. We did a little reverse egg hunt and instead hid pieces of carrot in the woods in hopes rabbits will find them later.
We did some porch cleaning and Eric put the little slide out in our backyard. Look how green our backyard is getting.
Ezri had a good nap with slightly muddy socks.
A very nice day with long stroller walk, park, and fun in our own backyard.
Weeding

Ezri stomped through the backyard looking down.
“Look, mama, creeping charlie. I GOT IT!”
If the creeping charlie in our lawn can be eradicated by being picked a single leaf at a time and carried over the the yard waste trash can, Ezri is going to take care of it.
She started doing this after playing in the yard with Eric. I think he’s been training her to help with lawn maintenance.
Museum It Is

In the morning yesterday I asked Ezri, “Do you want to go to the museum?”
Ezri – “YEAH! and zoo.”
Me- “We can go to the museum OR the zoo. Do you want to go to the zoo?”
Ezri – “ZOO! and museum.”
We ended up at the museum which opens earlier and was thus better timed for getting home for naptime. Ezri was pleased and I was relieved that as we left the museum she was more interested in macaroni and the zoo was not mentioned.
