The weather shows spring is coming and we can go outside! I am thrilled. Ezri is so happy to explore outside for her first spring as a mobile toddler. Leaves, puddles, mud, grass, twigs. . . so much stuff she’s never had in her little hands.

These are photos from her trip with Eric to the toddler garden at the Morton Arboretum. We will be spending many a day there exploring.
March 10th, 2010 — books

Ezri has been enjoying books with photos of animals this week. I’ll mention 2 faves.
1) Sleepy Cat from Sterling Publishing has simple text like “yawn” or “quiet” with an accompanying color photo of a cat. Ezri will bring this book to me and climb into my lap for a reading.
2) Wacky Wild Peek a Boo! from Busy Baby & Make Believe Ideas has very satisfying flaps. It is from the same series as Perfect Pets Peek a Boo! and suffers from the same super appealing photos and flaps with underwhelming text. The glittery snake and rough elephant trunk are favorite pages for Ezri.
She also continues to gravitate towards Rathman’s two books – Goodnight, Gorilla and 10 Minutes Till Bedtime. Rathman’s artwork is very appealing to Ezri and the plots of these books are clever for parents to read. These are great books for us to enjoy together.

Ezri attended Sock Monkey Festival this past weekend.

She watched the Miss/Mr. Sockford sock monkey pageant with a packed house of onlookers.

She pointed at many monkeys and older children let her see their sock friends.

It was a good outting for all.

Today Ezri is not napping except for 10 minutes after her library trip.
There has to be an easier way to get your canine teeth.
But, I fondly remember these naptime moments.

Manchi lies in the sun.

Ezri pets Manchi with no tail or fur pulling. She’s learning.

Ezri notices that Manchi looks like a pillow – a very comfy pillow.

Ezri is getting ready to stroll.

Helping push the stroller. This lasted for a couple blocks.

Ezri is ready for swing season aka spring.

Ezri likes being able to back up and sit down in this little blue chair that used to be her dad’s. It’s just the right height for her. Two nights ago she was standing up and sitting down and standing up and sitting down and clapping for herself at how well she was doing this. Then she took two steps forward and without looking back sat down and THUMP. She was flat on her bottom on the floor. To Ezri this was surprising and upsetting. To those watching it was also amusing.

While we are working on sitting in chairs. Ezri is still a fan of climbing and standing on chairs. sigh.

It’s Ezri. She’s just been asked to point at the cat and she knows which figurine is the cat. Pointing at cats is a very good game.

Ezri helped push the cart while I was shopping today. She’s not just riding in the cart, she’s a cart operator. It’s like a giant walker and she loves it. We have big plans to go to the park district open gym this afternoon post-nap and run around. Ezri loved running around during parent/tot workout yesterday. Giant yoga balls and walls covered with mirrors are awesome. So, I am hopeful a big open gym with other children will be equally fun.

Ezri now wants to climb everything.
It keeps her parents on their toes and has lead to a few bumps and bruises.
Here she is climbing on into the fridge.
