Halloween Scene

Pumpkin decorating involved a small wooden hammer. Both my kids like banging pegs into a pumpkin. See Ezri tongue bite of concentration. It makes her look like my father.
Ezri decided to paint her pumpkin purple & pink.
Here Ezri asks if it is too rainy to Trick-or-Treat.
Our first stop has a nice, dry porch for the Princess of Light. Her preschool teachers told me that she explained yesterday that she was the Princess of Light who brings the sun. They asked me where the character is from – I do not know. Meghan who took the photo below explained that “this was the face she made right after explaining to me very sweetly that ‘a princess’s job is to give orders and everybody has to listen because she is the princess.'” This is also the stop where after being given candy, Ezri asked for a slice of cheese.
Here I think the princess is getting ready for a masquerade ball.
Here is the posse we went Trick-or-Treating with. Luckily, the weather was down to a drizzle by this point and we even saw a patch of blue sky.
The vampire and the princess did a great job going from house to house and saying their Trick or Treats and Thank yous. They were often hand-in-hand along the path. They particularly enjoyed the house with the fog machine at the door that got turned on for kids ringing the bell. Spooktastic.
Early Trick-Or-Treating at Safety Town

She thought about being a Super Princess Kitty (from the book of the same name). In this picture she is a Super Princess Kitty with her pink super cape and her kitty hat and her princess dress. She’s holding up a magic ring that spreads friendship wherever you fire it (or so says the Princess Super Kitty).
It turned out when we went out she really wanted a princess crown and face glitter instead of ears and whiskers. She did wear her Super E cape a bit, so she was a Super Princess. I wore kitty ears on a handband and my cape to be a Super Kitty. So together “the girls” as Ezri calls our duo had Super, Princess and Kitty all covered.
Here she is with her brother Super Spider-man, all set to go out.

Father’s Day
June 16th, 2013 — dress-up, Father's Day
Ezri picked out capes for the whole family for Father’s Day from a store on Etsy. We decided to forgo our big E and little e t-shirts and have superhero capes made this year. Ezri’s cape is pink with a crown and a lower case e. She selected for Eric blue with a lightning bolt and upper case E. Ivan and Amanda both got green capes with stars on the back and an “i” and an “A” respectively.
Dad and the kids are all super.
Caped superheros, watch out. I think there’s someone lurking behind you.

Wonder Ezri
May 24th, 2013 — at play, dress-up
Yes, this Wonder Woman head piece was definitely $1 well spent. It brought more than $1 worth of joy to Wonder Ezri. She has her princess pony sidekicks in her hands.
In the afternoon while we worked on putting together an Avengers puzzle (also $1), Ezri kept commanding “Avengers Assemble.”
She looks more like her dad than ever.

Ezri wanted a beard like Eric this afternoon. Then we found his spare glasses. Voila! Mini-Eric is complete.
Halloween Riverwalk Storytime
October 28th, 2012 — dress-up, holidays, Ivan
Ezri wandered about at the beginning of the storytime before the show telling people “Human cyborg relations.” Occasionally she would point at Ivan and say, “That’s my counterpart.” Grandma Liz made her gold suit and we printed her mask from the internet. Her R2 counterpart’s outfit is courtesy of an etsy shop called “The Wishing Elephant.”
We met some friends who were Powerpuff girls (aka Blossom and Bubbles) for a bit of a dance party and some early trick-or-treating.
