BookCon Hijinks
May 15th, 2016 — books
Kid in lanyard with a badge waiting in line for the Jennifer Holm (author of Babymouse) signing.
Princess Ezri and Squirrel Girl Princess K.
We are not really in the Grand Tetons.
The slowest lines are those with ice cream sandwiches at the end.
We spent a lot of time at the Harry Potter scribble wall creating and coloring.
A couple of poop themed photo ops presented themselves. And the girls were interested.
We were fascinated by any book with cats or kittens.
Lines to meet authors are way better with friends.
We came back with books to read and a bunch of booky totebags. Good times!

Designing her own fairy
December 29th, 2015 — artwork, books
Ezri is designing a grown-up version of Baby Squeak, a character from her favorite fairy books – the Fairy Bell sisters. Perfect way to spend the Christmas morning wait for her brother to wake-up and the present opening to begin.
What has Ezri been reading?
August 22nd, 2015 — books
Ezri asked I let the blog know about the books that she reads books all by herself now.
The title she wanted me to mention is Rainbow Magic: Pet Parade by Daisy Meadows.
She also read Ninja, Go! by Julia March aloud to Ivan. It is a guide to the Lego Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu.
We are not in chapter books yet, but she is building fluency in more complicated easy readers.
Over vacation she read the phrase “gleaming limousines” with no stumbles. First grade is going to be read-tastic.
Here she is reading about Reaction Cat from the new Aw Yeah Comics! volume 2:
Rex Wrecks It
May 8th, 2015 — books
Reading Rex Wrecks It together on the futon.
Ivan loves making Sprinkles neigh and saying “Rawry” when Rex is sorry.
Ezri could read the whole book even if she didn’t have it memorized.
Reading to Ivan
April 30th, 2015 — books
Ivan wasn’t feeling well, so Ezri let him use her pink blankie and pillow.
She read him the stories Wolfie the Bunny, Frog and Fly, and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole.
Reading together
April 21st, 2015 — books
Ezri read me this book I Don’t Want to be A Frog and the book Pony Tales by Nora Gaydos.
I read to her a couple chapters of Emma and the Genie by Cornelia Funke.
The Book with No Pictures
January 11th, 2015 — books
Ezri’s favorite trick to play on grown-ups strikes again.
I love how quickly my kids claimed these college friends of ours as playmates and completely hug-worthy. Kids, you are not wrong these are some high quality folks. Even though we had not seen them for awhile, the kids immediately put them in the treat-as-family category. Not sure if they judge the person’s reaction to them or their parents’ reaction to the visitor. But, they are perceptive. Mike and Erin proved gullible enough to provide piggy back rides. They were introduced to our kinetic sand and made a lot of food to be cut apart by Wasabi’s laser knife. Ezri also “tricked” them into reading her favorite read-aloud. She loves hearing grown-ups say “boo boo butt” and feeling like she’s pulled one over on them.
Reading The Book with No Pictures is so funny that the photos all come out laughter blurry.
Laughter blurry is the best blurry.
