As a parent, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about firsts – first words, first steps, first time in a swing, first day at the zoo, first bite of an apple, first piggyback ride – so many firsts.
I’ve started to realize that parenthood also comes with lasts.
The last time she’ll nap in her carrier on my chest.
The last time I’ll puree her veggies.
The last time she’ll say “nani” to mean banana.
The last time I’ll be able to cradle her in my arms.
The last time she’ll try to put the cat’s tail in her mouth.
The last time she’ll stare mesmerized by the turning of the ceiling fan.
The last time I’ll be able to set things on a medium height shelf and think they’re safe.
The last time she’ll need my help to get down from the couch.
Ezri is full of firsts and lasts – but mostly she’s 18 months of awesome!
We celebrated her half-birthday with a dinner out at the Two Toots Grill where your sandwich comes carried by model train.
Ezri said, “Hi, train,” and “Bye, train,” many times.
She enjoyed it when the waiter blew the choo choo whistle. I like the egg salad sandwich.
Good times.

A morning at the pool, a nap in the carseat and a little bit of lunch used as hair product left Ezri with this look.

It’s hard to believe Ezri will soon have her first birthday.
Today she turns 11 months old on the 11th of the month.
Eric reckons that makes today a special day.

The photo below shows how Ezri feels generally about posing with monkey-monkey lately. She is too busy moving to slow down for posed photos.

But, she does still love the monkey – especially his chewable button eyes. Don’t worry they are well attached and we don’t leave her unsupervised with monkey-monkey.

She’s been out in the world about the same amount of time she was in utero.
Aunt Coral gifted her with this fabulous sock monkey outfit and I thought she needed to wear it to celebrate.
That’s right, Ezri. You can blame (err, thank) Coral for this one.

Monkey-monkey is there for scale. Though, Ezri has decided to try chewing his eye off. Monkey cannibalism?

It’s getting harder to get a photo of Ezri with monkey-monkey. These were taken on the 11th, but I am just getting to posting.
She moves a lot more now than a few months ago.

She also moves the monkey. So, there’s a lot of motion during photo time.

I’d love it if she stretched out and showed just how tall she is with monkey-monkey for scale, but here we can see both monkey and Ezri.
These photos were taken in Connecticut where Ezri was honored to attend the wedding of Nathan Hemingson and Julie Smith.

Monkey-monkey had to be packed and toted to California so that he could be photographed with Ezri at the 7 month mark.
Was it worth it with all the other luggage (car seat, baby monitor, bottles, diapers, baby carrier, and so on)?
I think so.
