First Grade Butterfly Release
May 25th, 2016 — school
They hatched eggs into caterpillars of Painted Lady butterflies. The caterpillars lived in the classroom and did their cocooning. This week they released them to fly and be free!
Ezri described briefly holding a butterfly gently in her cupped hands before letting it go.

Here are Mrs. Z’s first graders in their 100th day crowns.
Her crown reads “Ezri is 100 days smarter.”
Star of the Week
January 23rd, 2016 — school
Ezri took photos, made a poster, and took 5 items to share with her class as this week’s star.
Her class had a lot of questions about her Magiquest Wand.
She also took her Becky doll dressed as Anna, A Fairybell Sisters book, a bracelet she made with her rainbow loom, and her scarf with her skating class patches sewed on (I need to add her recently earned patches to that one).
In her photos she selected one with all her grandparents, one with her brother, and one of her and her friend Charlotte Bacon who she said she misses a lot.
This assignment says so much about my kid.

The math – she’s 25/25. The listening to instructions – she’s 0/5.
And she still writes her numbers and letters backwards sometimes. The right and left are hard for her because of her somewhat ambidextrous nature.
I love the teachers “sad face ?.” I’ve felt that way too, Mrs. Z.

Warm fuzzy party at school
October 6th, 2015 — school
The kids in first grade earn cotton balls for the “warm fuzzy” jar whenever a teacher notices them being kind or helpful. They filled the jar and voted to have a “tech party” where they were allowed to bring an electronic toy to school and play with it during a 20 minute free play.

Ezri tells me her teacher is very nice. She got to play with Alice at recess. She wants me to buy her a milk card because they have chocolate milk.
Headed out in the morning with our backpacks on!
Celebrating afterschool with a cone of Lighthouse Cherry. We had a slight disagreement when she said she wanted two scoops and I said no. I ordered her the junior scoop. She said, “See, it is two scoops.” Portion size at Every Day’s a Sundae are large.
These are from the PTA photo booth held a few days before school started on the playground at school to welcome kids back.
