Chico hot springs

Ezri loves swimming in the warm pool. Ivan not so much, but he enjoyed the wooden bridge in the gardens and climbing up to see the teepee.
Her first tooth falls out.
September 22nd, 2013 — milestones, traveling
Here she is smiling on Wednesday which was our travel day. She lost her first tooth on Friday night. Her brother helped by tackling her at bedtime and knocking it loose. She said an enthusiastic thank you to him.
The tooth fairy left four shiny quarters. One was a Montana quarter and another had a buffalo on it.
The tooth loss happened mere moments after reading Fancy Nancy and the Too Loose Tooth as a bedtime story.
I’ll post a photo of the gap toothed smile when I have photos off my camera.
Today’s favorite Ezri quote was said in a quiet moment during a nature walk as we overlooked a babbling stream. “I wish we could fly high like birds. And that there were flying potties.” Always thinking about the important amenities.
Carleton Reunion
July 1st, 2013 — traveling
I didn’t have the camera out much at reunion. Too busy with good people and running all over with the kids.
Ezri loved that there were bouncy houses, face painting, dancing to a live band, and a lot of new friends right around her age. Ivan was big on the fruit bar at breakfast.
Reuniting with Charlotte Quigley and meeting her sister, Katherine, in person was a special treat. Ezri told us the day after returning that now she is sad because she misses two Charlottes. One Charlotte is in New Zealand and one Charlotte is in San Francisco. Neither is close enough for play dates. Sarah Quigley gave me a lesson in putting hair up in a bun – and the secret tools of hair pins (NOT bobby pins) and a hair net. Our girls still have their buns in this photo of a march to get treats in the Chapel.
Sarah gave me some of my first “Friday Flowers”- a Carleton tradition. So, we had our girls exchange flowers. Our daisies are still looking pretty good in the kitchen many miles and more than a week later.
Oh, there was minigolf set-up too. They didn’t play by the rules but they had a lot of fun.
An all around good trip for Ezri and the whole family.
Here are a couple photos from the Quigley girls’ blog. You can see how much Ezri is loving Charlotte. I love the smiling cheeks of both girls.
Chico Resort and Hot Springs
August 23rd, 2012 — grandparents, traveling
Going through some vacation snapshots.
Here’s Ezri on the climbing boulders in front of “The Bungalow” where we stayed.
The pool and hot tub were heated from natural hot springs. Ahhh. . .
Lots of stairs back up to the Bungalow from the pool.
Sitting in front of the horse barn where Ezri got to pet a horse named Daisy and see two foxy ladies on motorcycles wearing genuine fox tails with their leather pants.
Thanks to Chico and Grandparents for the good times
Vacation was grand. It is good to be home.

Making new friends in Minnesota
June 25th, 2012 — traveling
We took our first road trip as a family of four up to Minnesota last weekend.
We discovered that bedtime is tricky in a hotel, but that the kids can do well together in the backseat.
We celebrated the Solstice at Nick and Wendy’s house. Eric and I got to catch up with old friends and Ezri found that those old friends’ kids made good new friends for her.
Ezri loved that Evelyn shared her toys, tricycles, boots, sandbox, bubbles, aquadoodle mat, red wagon, snacks, little sister, raspberries picked straight from her backyard bushes, and was a great partner for sidewalk races.
It was heaps of fun.
