Ezri and Her Dad

Eric’s hair is even wilder than usual here because he let Ezri put plastic barrettes in it while it was still damp. Once removed the barrettes left buoyant curls.

This conversation I posted to facebook, but it is worth repeating. Ezri was so proud of her pee/ P.U. joke. So proud! It is also worth noting that this week was her first time peeing in her potty. It’s a TMI toddler milestone. We have only begun toilet training, but the game is on. Conversation follows:

Toddler: Do you want to see my toe jam?
Me: Sure.
Toddler: Do you want to smell my toe jam?
Me: Not really.
Toddler: It smells like pee.
Me: Really?
Toddler: It smells like pee-eww!

Unappreciative Felines

After Ezri worked hard in her play kitchen to “bake” these plastic play muffins and lovingly brought them to the relaxing kitties who had done naught to help, the cats did not show any gratitude.

Here are Ellie and Manchi with their muffins which Ezri has gently placed on or near the kitties for their convenience.

How to Eat A Cookie

Step 1: Remove all sprinkles and eat them commenting on their colors.

Step 2: Remove as much frosting as possible with your fingernails and eat it.
Resulting cookie as follows:

Step 3: Consider eating some of the actual baked good instead of just the toppings.

Step 4: MILK!

I rarely think my daughter looks like me as a kid, but in this blurry photo with her mouth full of cookie I can see a smaller me.

Trip to Downtown Downers for Dinner

Ezri decided she wanted to take her wagon.

We had sandwiches and visited Champion the Wonderhorse at Two Toots.

Champion needed a big hug from Ezri.

Gardening

Our tomatoes aren’t very big yet.

Ezri enjoys spraying them with water.
I have plans to get her a watering can of her own. Our current models are too big for her.

I don’t know that any watering can could be as exciting as holding the hose.
Ezri says, “I hold it steady. Tomato, drink. Here ya’ go! Here ya’ go!”

Cosley

This farm and local wildlife zoo was perfect for a sunny morning. Ezri loves the caboose at the park that you can climb up into and explore.

We saw sheep.
This is Ezri showing me there are sheep.

We watched the ducks swim.

We met friends.

We saw a calf who was born just last night. Ezri liked that he drank milk from his mama.

That’s the face you get when you ask Ezri to say, “cheese!”

Rabbits, snakes, turtles, deer, and a really cool maccaw made this trip a good one.

We left all tuckered out.

Conversation in the car

Ezri: Where are we going?
Me: We’re going home.
Ezri: I don’t want to go home.
Me: It’s time for dinner.
Ezri: I don’t want dinner.
Me: Well, mama is hungry. I need dinner.
Ezri: No, mama is no hungry.
Me: Yes, mama is hungry.
Ezri: No, no it isn’t.
Me: If only reality were so easy to change.
Ezri: I don’t want to go home.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Amy.

Ezri is obsessed with birthdays.
They mean presents and cake and playing with friends.
I can see why she loves them.

So, she decided to wish her Aunt Amy a happy birthday.

We tried last year to have her say happy birthday to Amy. Here are the results of a year ago.

My, but she’s grown! Happy birthday, Amy. If you were closer, I’d score you cupcakes and toddler hugs.

And now for a story from Ezri. . .

She told us she was going to tell us a story and then told us this:

“There’s a little girl named Tam and she knows she had a bunny rabbit. And the big, bad wolf comed around and blowed the house down. And where’d the house go? Uh-OH! And then the tickling.”

Picnic in the backyard this afternoon:

Memorial Day

At the park:

Over the bridge. . .

Not Ezri’s best slide.

Getting ready for dinner:

Learning the fine art of husking corn.

Putting her husking skills to the test.

Corn on the cob is something the whole family enjoys. YUM!
