Ezri and Eric got me cupcakes from Busy Bee. Ezri gave me comics from Free Comic Book Day and all the hugs I asked her for. It was a good day.

Elsa and Anna at the C2E2 con
April 27th, 2014 — Uncategorized
Despite being nothing like princess dresses worn by the Disney Frozen character Elsa, Ezri declared that she was Elsa in this costume. She was overjoyed to find and have her photo taken with her sister, Anna. This cosplayer was very nice to the many young kids who wanted to talk to her and take photos with her. Her costume was homemade and pretty excellent.
Other Frozen moments at the C2E2 event and proof that Ezri isn’t the only Frozen fangirl in attendance:
A girl in a blue dress with white wig and dragon stuffed toys declares herself to be Elsa, Mother of Dragons. Her dad shrugs and says he and his daughter didn’t agree on the best costume for the white braided wig she’s wearing. They compromised and combined characters.
Another girl who was at the front of a signing line where a comic book artist was drawing little sketches for the kids. Her dad tries to convince the girl to get one of the characters the artist is known for drawing, she pouts and says she wants Elsa from Frozen. The dad begins to speak again. The artist holds up a hand and says “I can do Elsa” and draws her a super cute Elsa caricature. Girl squeezes it to her chest. Dad thanks the artist. Everyone wins!
Big Wheel Keep On Turning
April 20th, 2014 — Uncategorized
She liked sitting on the American Legion motorcycle.
But, the big rig where she got to sit in the cab and pull the REALLY LOUD horn was the best. Okay, the horn scared Ivan, but Ezri thought it was the best.

Dance Party

Dancing to songs from the Frozen soundtrack, Pharrell William’s Happy, and I Like to Move It!
It was impossible to take a photo of this kinetic joy, but here are Ezri and Thora tearing up the carpet. Hopefully, cumulatively these photos will get across what fun we were having.
Displaying her plastic herd of My Little Ponies
April 2nd, 2014 — Uncategorized
Ezri spent quite awhile thoughtfully arranging her ponies. She made sure at least one of each of the “mane six” is in the window. The villains are assembled towards the back together. She brushed tails and put on outfits for the ponies. There is a card on the side that says some of the names of the ponies so people can read it and know their names.
It was fun to watch her think about her collection and how it would be viewed. She decided she could not put her stuffed animal pony in the window because she sleeps with her and Woof-woof would miss her. So, stuffed Twilight Sparkle pony is staying in her bed next to pink unicorn and Woof-woof the dog and a small pink poodle.
Then and Now
April 1st, 2014 — Uncategorized
This one is from this afternoon.
Ezri has been enjoying April Fool’s Day. She fooled Eric by telling him that her stuffed dog in a sack was a “pig in a poke.”
She also “got me” when she pretended to have fallen asleep in the car on the way to Spanish, but was actually awake the whole time.
And on the morning of April 2 Ezri declared, “My underwear did an April Fool’s joke. They put themselves on backwards.”
Trip to the movies
January 31st, 2014 — Uncategorized
This was Ezri’s second movie outing to a theater, but my first time at the theater with her.
I’d planned to take her to see Frozen earlier but the first two times I had planned were ironically so snowy as to make travel to the theater not worthwhile.
We shared a popcorn and lemonade. My kid can eat a lot of popcorn.
She was enthralled by Frozen and particularly enamored with the ice magic. She brought Woof-Woof along to snuggle in case the movie was scary.
At one point when the main characters were being attacked by a snow beast, I gasped. I felt something on my arm. It was Woof-Woof with Ezri quietly saying, “You can hold him if you need to.”
When the big rescue scene happens, Ezri had questions which she started to ask in a piping voice in the completely silent and relatively full theater. I shushed her explaining in whispers when the action had picked up what had just happened. We talked a lot in the car on the way home about the movie and it was a lovely outing for us both.

She is taking care of her friend J’s hermit crabs for a week. She can tell all three apart even though I still get Lola and Grace confused and have to refer to my notes about which one has the spikier shell.
There has never been a more excited hermit crab caretaker.
Here’s hermit crab, Charlie, when Ezri picked him up to place him in a “hermit crab playground” she created in a laundry basket with sticks and shells and acorns.
D is for Donuts
October 24th, 2013 — Uncategorized
This week preschool is all about the letter D.
I asked Ezri what she wanted to take for D show-and-tell. She said donuts! And suggested we go get some. We did.
We took this picture for her to take to show and tell with some doughnut shaped dog toys her mom happened to have.
I feel like she may be trying to come up with a tasty treat for other letters since I drove through Dunkin Donuts for the letter D.
When she had trouble deciding which kind of donut she wanted, she arranged for Ivan to get the chocolate frosted and her to get the pink frosted and then to half each so both kids could have both flavors.
