Sticker Pox

I hope it isn’t catching.

I was just going to ask if Ezri had brushed her teeth yet.

I think I know the answer.

Downtown Naperville looking at the Train Art

Ezri making train noises sitting in one of the painted engines.

One of my favorite trains was the “Molar Express” sponsored by an area dentist.

Just look at those festive dental tools. This was painted by a local high school’s art honor society.

This was Ezri’s favorite train of the dozen or so we saw. We took this photo for Ivan because it was the Olaf side of the train.

Here is Ezri who wanted her photo with the Elsa side of the train.

Ezri liked this permanent statue honoring a couple who met in grade school and spent their lives together. She shared her hat briefly.

But it was much too cold out for that to last.

At least the sun was shining. Here are Ezri and Meghan posing with a particularly colorful train engine.

We went in an ice cream shop hoping they’d have hot cocoa. They did, but Ezri decided to double down and get hot cocoa AND ice cream. My kid is smart and lucky.

Getting ready for her mini dance recital

She danced to Sugar Plum Fairy music. She smiled during her performance and while some beats were missed she knew her steps.

Fancy Hat and a Robot Cat

fancyhatrobotcat

This cat meows and purrs. Its name is “Meow Meow” if you ask Ezri. Ivan calls her “Kitty Witty” but Ezri assures me that is just a nickname.

meowmeow

Ezri selected Meow Meow at her school’s annual Toy Swap run by the school’s Earth Club. We traded in some plastic elephants, puzzles, and magnetic travel games. Ivan selected a bat mobile and a cement mixer. Both kids are very pleased with their new toys. It was a great way to trade toys and let the kids “shop” for themselves. Every toy swapped gets you one ticket. Each ticket gets you a new toy. So, there’s no need to understand money or change or to figure what you have enough to buy.

Aunt Coral visits

The kids loved Coral’s visit. She played robot turtles, took them to the museum, helped Ezri improve her building skills, took them to the library, and read plenty of stories.

Ezri gave Coral a sticker for “being a great aunt each day” on a sticker reward chart that Ezri had me make and place next to her own sticker reward chart. Good job earning those stickers, Coral.

The first “chocolate coffee” of the season

The “chocolate coffee” is warm milk and ovaltine.

We got cold on our tree walk to see what the trees in our neighborhood are doing. So we warmed up with a hot beverage.

This was the prettiest leaf by Ezri’s estimation. It was dark and richly mottled with color. Ezri preferred it to the brighter oranges and reds.

Movie Night

We assembled our dragon and dinosaur toys (and a bunny and Twilight Sparkle) to watch the movie How to Train Your Dragon.

When asked her favorite part of the movie, Ezri answered that she liked it when Hiccup and the dragon Toothless became friends.

When asked his favorite part of the movie, Ivan answered “eating popcorn.”

Bunk Bed Installed – It’s a whole new bedtime.

The Lower Bunk that belongs to Ivan.

The Upper Bunk that belongs to Ezri.
upperbunk

They both visit each other’s bunks. Eric built the steps because Ivan is not trusted on the ladder that came with the bed from IKEA. Cozy new nooks for both kids. They were so excited it took longer to get to bed last night, but hopefully they’ll adjust soon.
