{"id":4138,"date":"2013-02-13T15:01:21","date_gmt":"2013-02-13T21:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.ezriblau.com\/?p=4138"},"modified":"2013-02-13T15:12:06","modified_gmt":"2013-02-13T21:12:06","slug":"ezris-holiday-book-favorites-of-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.ezriblau.com\/?p=4138","title":{"rendered":"Ezri&#8217;s Holiday Book Favorites of 2012 &#038; Book Angel Picks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Better late than never, here&#8217;s a round-up of our favorite holiday reads of the past year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Santa Duck <\/strong>by David Milgrim<br \/>\nwith the refrain &#8220;Jingle quack Jingle quack Jingle all the quack&#8221; this was a winner about a duck who while wearing a Santa hat is mistaken for the man himself and collects other animals&#8217; Christmas wishes taking them to Santa.  He forgets to tell Santa what he wants himself, but discovers helping Santa was a great gift in itself.  He&#8217;s still pretty pleased with a ride-around jeep that appears for him on Christmas morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bad Kitty Christmas <\/strong>by Nick Bruel<br \/>\nBad Kitty destroys an alphabet of Christmas decor and preparations.  Bad Kitty runs away and meets an old woman who tells Bad Kitty about an alphabet of family.  Bad Kitty reunites with his family and brings a guest to share the Christmas joy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Daddy and Hanukkah Mama<\/strong> by Selina Alko<br \/>\nSadie describes two holiday traditions one from each side of her family.  I think it is obvious why Ezri responded to this one. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas<\/strong> by Jane O&#8217;Connell<br \/>\nA treasured holiday decorations is destroyed in an accident and a homemade one takes it place.  Fancy Nancy and her Fancy words continue to enthrall Ezri.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed both<br \/>\n<strong>How do Dinosaurs say Happy Chanukah?<\/strong> and <strong>How do Dinosaurs say Merry Christmas?<\/strong> by Jane Yolen<\/p>\n<p>And lastly my favorite that was appreciated by Ezri:<br \/>\n<strong>Dinosaur versus Santa<\/strong> by Bob Shea<br \/>\nRoar! Roar! Dinosaur tackles Christmas prep in style always coming out on top.  He also wears some great holiday sweaters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book Angels <\/strong>&#8211;<br \/>\nAgain this year we picked book presents to be given to less book-gifted people than us.<\/p>\n<p>Ezri&#8217;s pick was <a href=\" http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Max-Rubys-Treasure-Hunt-Ruby\/dp\/0670063177\/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;qid=1356114338&#038;sr=1-7&#038;keywords=max+and+ruby\">Max and Ruby&#8217;s Treasure Hunt<\/a> which she picked for a 3 year-old girl.<\/p>\n<p>Ivan pointed and said, &#8220;BEE-bo!&#8221; which I took to mean he had selected a large edition of <a href=\" http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Belly-Button-Book-Sandra-Boynton\/dp\/B007CSFLEI\/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?s=books&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;qid=1356114667&#038;sr=1-2-fkmr0&#038;keywords=belly+button+boynton+anniversary\">The Belly Button Book <\/a>for a 1 year-old boy.<\/p>\n<p>I selected two paperbacks for a 15 year-old girl being <a href=\" http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Paper-Towns-John-Green\/dp\/014241493X\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;qid=1356114700&#038;sr=1-1&#038;keywords=paper+towns\">Papertowns<\/a> by John Green and <a href=\" http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Daughter-Smoke-Bone\/dp\/031613399X\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;qid=1356114723&#038;sr=1-1&#038;keywords=daughter+of+smoke\">Daughter of Smoke and Bone<\/a> by Laini Taylor.
